Psalm 28
Blessed be the Lord,
Because He has heard the voice of my supplication.
The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart exults,
And with my song I shall thank Him.
The Lord is their strength,
And He is a saving defense to His anointed.
Save Your people and bless Your inheritance;
Be their shepherd also, and carry them forever.
Psalm 28:6-9
What a blessing it is to be the children of God. We are His, not because of what great things we have done. It is because of our faith in Jesus and the great work He has done on our behalf that we can be in His family. While it is true that we have to obey His gospel to become a part of the family of God, there is no merit or works of righteousness in doing so. This obedience along with our continued living for Him is a demonstration of our faith. We obey because we trust Him.
