Day 20 God is Lord of the Harvest

Day 20: God is the Lord of the Harvest

The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. - Acts 17:24 -25
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” - Matthew 9:35-38

Our heavenly Father is the Lord of the Harvest. He does not need us to accomplish His work on earth. Instead, He gives us the opportunity to be part of what He is doing for our benefit because He loves us and He chooses us. By being an influence on others, pointing them to Jesus, we make a difference in our schools, our workplaces, our community, this nation, and God’s kingdom.

Suggested Guided Prayer:
  • Father God, human need is plentiful. Many in our communities, in our nation, and in this world need You. They are lost without You and need Your love and grace through a relationship with Jesus. We pray for more laborers to share the gospel and to reap the harvest. You are the Lord of the harvest. Train and anoint skillful, faithful, wise, and industrious workers to minister to people’s physical and spiritual needs.
  • Father, bring to my mind someone in my life who needs a relationship with Jesus (pause). God, please draw him/her to You (John 6:44). Father, I bind the spirit that blinds his/her mind (2 Corinthians 4:4). I pray that ______ would have a personal relationship with You (Romans 8:15). Please help faithful believers cross his/her path (Matthew 9:38). Father, release a spirit of wisdom and revelation on him/her (Ephesians 1:17).

Action Steps:
  • Reflect on all the areas of blessing within your own life. Thank the Lord of the Harvest for his provision in your life. Jesus saw the greatness of human need as a harvest that was plentiful - how has God blessed you to be a blessing to others?
  • Read Ezekiel 22:30. Ask God what it means for you to stand in the gap for Stonecrest, for your community, your school, and our nation. How can you make a difference?
