Day 12 God is our Good Shepherd
Day 12: God Is Our Good Shepherd
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.” - John 10:11
All of us like sheep have gone astray: we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on of Him the iniquity of us all. - Isaiah 53:6
A shepherd guards the entrance way to protect his sheep. The purpose is so that no evil or harm comes to the sheep within his care. A good shepherd knows each of his sheep by name and they know him. Jesus describes himself as the Good Shepherd because He knows each of us by name. He knows our wants, needs, thoughts, and desires, even before we even ask. God is also familiar with our “sheep-like” qualities and our tendency to wander from Him. However, God in His pastoral ways, sent his only Son to die on the cross for our sins.

Suggested Guided Prayer Focuses:
- God, thank You for sending Your only Son who gave His life for my sin. Lord, show me the ways I have wandered from Your guiding hand (wait on Him and write anything that comes to mind). If anything comes to mind and if you are ready you can repeat this: “Lord, I repent of the ways I have wandered from Your guiding hand and I return to You today.”
- As a sheep of God, may we take more time getting to know our Good Shepherd.
Action Steps:
- A prayer is just a conversation with God. Ask for guidance in all your daily adventures.
- Listen to His response. They may not be what we thought the answer would be.
