Psalm 1
Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
Psalm 1:1-3 ESV
Have you re-watched a show or movie to the point where you can quote your favorite scenes on demand? Or do have a favorite book or poem with lines that you’ve memorized because you love it so much?
When you first experienced these forms of entertainment you were just taking in the story or piece of literature. However, when something becomes your favorite it becomes part of your life and memories.
Like a favored book or movie, when we meditate and delight in God’s word, it goes beyond something we simply know about into being a part of who we are. When we meditate on Scripture, it goes from being a cognitive concept to a heart and soul transforming truth. Through this process of knowing, applying, and living out His word, we become more and more like Him. His word becomes alive and activated in us as we meditate on Scripture. What we dwell on shapes what we believe.
Friends, what we believe matters, and it is the Father’s heart that you bloom and prosper even in times of drought, crisis, and COVID-19. Rejoice, because when you believe Jesus, you will have an endless stream of living water. This water has the power to nurture and sustain you. And through this resource you can produce His fruit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control).
Prayer and Actions Steps:

Prayer and Actions Steps:
- Meditating on God’s word takes intentionality. However, He also knows the life you live, the responsibilities you have, and the pressures you go through every day. Find a way and time that works for you and make space for this exercise today. Take 5-10 mins where you can just “breathe” and “chew” on Psalm 1. Allow your time of meditation on God’s word to transform your heart and soul.
- Another powerful method of prayer is praying Scripture. Personalize this for yourselves and pray. This is also another way of meditating on His word. Put yourself in the Psalm above and declare these truths about yourself -- “Blessed is _______ (your name) who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked.....” keep going for the Psalm.
