Psalm 9
The Lord reigns forever;
he has established his throne for judgment.
He rules the world in righteousness
and judges the peoples with equity.
The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
Psalm 9:7-10
The Psalms are great Scripture verses to read and to pray through. This excerpt from Psalm 9 describes characteristics of God that I need to continue to declare in my life. He will reign forever; no one is higher. He rules in righteousness and through my faith in Jesus, I am righteous before God. His righteousness is trustworthy and never failing. He is a refuge for the oppressed. He is a stronghold in times of trouble.
I have been reminded many times over these past few weeks that I need to continue to trust in the Lord. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” I know that God will continue to show me the way to walk as I trust in Him. I can cultivate that trust in not leaning on my own understanding and rationale. Psalm 9:10 says, “those who know your name trust in you." To be able to trust in God is to know Him better. As I pursue my relationship with Him and get to know His character and His names more and more, the trust within me grows.
What names of God do you know? Oftentimes, we pray out His names to declare who He is because we need to hear it not only with our own ears but our hearts as well.
We are one day away from Good Friday. Even though the day reflects the death of Jesus, it is through that act that we understand who God is. God is truly good to us through the sacrifice of Jesus. May God reflect who He is and His Name and His character in your life today no matter what you are facing. May your trust in Him grow as you spend time in knowing Him.

Thank you to whomever put the link to Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus by Shane and Shane. I will use their songs during my devotional time. The old hymns played simply cause me to really worship Jesus.
